Durness is located on the north coast of Scotland, 100 miles west of John o' Groats and 16 kilometres east of Cape Wrath and is the most north-westerly inhabited locality on mainland Britain. The village of Durness serves a large area of scattered townships and farms and is a major tourist destination in the far North of Scotland with an abundance of scenery, wildlife and cultural attractions.
This corner of the Scottish Highlands is accessed by the winding and picturesque A838 single track road. To arrive at Durness the traveller must pass through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world and the locality offers a superb range of pursuits.
